The late Whitney Houston is the latest subject to have captured director Kevin Macdonald’s fascination, and he felt particularly compelled to explore the star’s life – on stage and off.

“Whitney came from this lineage of amazing African-American singers,” he explains. “Her mother was Elvis’ backing singer, her cousin was Dionne Warwick and her godmother was Aretha Franklin. Whitney surpassed...

This week in 1985, "Saving All My Love For You" went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, marking the first number one single for Whitney, who went on to have seven consecutive No.1 singles! Michael Masser wrote the song, but many people don't know that he co-wrote it with Gerry Goffin who was married to Carole King! This is the artwork for the original single sleeve.
Whitney photographed by Randee St. Nicholas for her tour book for the 2010 Nothing But Love Tour, her last tour. The photo session took place in Atlanta, Georgia.
Glamour shot - 1990 - Fame Magazine. Have a great weekend.
Gospel and Contemporary Christian singer CeCe Winans was one of Whitney's closest friends (and godmother to her daughter). Here they are pictured at the 1995 VH1 Honors Show where they performed "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
Happy Birthday to the great Cissy Houston, who turns 83 years young today.
We have just learned of the passing of musician, songwriter and producer Kashif, who worked with Whitney back in the beginning of her career. They had a very successful collaboration with "You Give Good Love" which Kashif produced and which was Whitney's first single. Here is Whitney performing the song on The Soul Train Awards back in the day. RIP Kashif.
The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture opened this past weekend in Washington, DC. The Whitney Houston Estate was honored to be asked to donate something iconic of Whitney's. Pat and Gary Houston attended the opening and Pat is pictured here along with Whitney's gown from the historic 1993 Billboard Music Awards, when she won record 11 awards. There is also a...

"One Of Those Days" was the second single from Whitney's 5th
studio album 'Just Whitney' in 2002. The song samples The Isley Brothers "Between The Sheets" from 1983 and the lyrics speak about getting away from the stress of life. The song received favorable reviews with the sampling getting favorable comments as well. Whitney performed the song on Good Morning America.
In September 2009, Whitney performed live on "Good Morning America" to promote her album "I Look To You" (which ended up being her last album). She performed four songs - two new ones from the album - Million Dollar Bill and I Look To You - and two oldies - My Love Is Your Love and I'm Every Woman. This is a cool shot as you can see that members of the audience were holding Whitney fans!!
An oldie but a goodie - Whitney performing onstage in Chicago in 1986.
Here is Whitney performing at the MTV Europe Music Awards, held in Barcelona, Spain in November 2002. She performed "Whatchulookinat" for the first time ever. Other performers that night included Christina Aguilera, Robbie Williams, Eminem and Coldplay. Diddy hosted.
