Here is a photo of Whitney from the 1987 Soul Train Music Awards, which were held in Santa Monica, California, in March of that year. She performed “You Give Good Love” and received two nominations – one for Best R&B/Soul Album, Female for 'Whitney Houston' and one for Best R&B/Soul Single, Female for “Greatest Love of All.”

Growing up, Whitney attended Franklin Elementary School in East Orange, New Jersey starting when she was 6 years old. In 1997, the school honored her by re-naming it The Whitney E. Houston Academy of Creative and Performing Arts. Here pictured is Whitney in 1990 at the school with Principal Henry Hamilton.
